“Disney princess are perceived as ideal females,” Saint Hoax told BuzzFeed. “They belong to a fairytale land where happy ever afters are bound to happen. But what happens after the happy ever after?”

3. “As a Middle Eastern artist, I always have the urge to voice out the injustice and inequality that takes place in my region,” Saint Hoax said. “Sadly, the news here is filled with stories of abused housewives, daughters, sisters, mothers.”

“Using elements that are culturally relevant always helps to get a message across,” they said. “People are emotionally attached to these princesses. Portraying them in a position of weakness stirs a lot of emotions and mixed feelings. Especially because these princesses are part of everyone’s childhood.”

5. Saint Hoax told BuzzFeed, “By portraying Disney princesses as victims of domestic violence, I’m proposing the idea that woman is safe from being emotionally, physically, or sexually abused.”
